Max MurphyMusic Teacher

    Magister Murphy teaches upper grade music at HSCA. He currently serves as the protopsalt (cantor and choir director) of Sts. Constantine & Elena Romanian Orthodox Church. Subdeacon Max received a B.Mus. from DePauw University cum laude and a M.Mus. from Western Washington University (both in French Horn performance). A sought after choral singer, he has taken part in services and concerts for a variety of local churches over the years as both chorister and soloist. He has served as music director for several churches and taught music and drama at Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School. He was a charter member of the chamber vocal ensembles, Mon Choeur and Meridian Vocal Consort and met his wife Jackie in the Indianapolis Pro Musica. As a studio singer, conductor, producer and contractor for Aire Born Studios since 1990, he has been part of countless recordings ranging from Essential Elements for Choirs to Johnny Mathis: The Christmas Album and the cinematic teaser for Jonah: A Veggie Tales Movie. He can be seen caroling in costume with The Dickens Carolers each winter and riding a bicycle just about any time of year.
