Magistra Maldonado brings a diverse background and passion for classical education to Hagia Sophia. She has been involved in education for over twenty years in a variety of roles and settings from tutor to consultant, and teaching in non-profit, inner-city, homeschool and university-level settings. She graduated summa cume laude with a B.A. in English and History and is currently completing her final year in the CiRCE Institute’s Apprenticeship program as a master teacher in classical education. In her spare time, Mgra. Maldonado enjoys spending time discussing books, gardening, and raising chickens and turkeys with her husband and three children. In the early morning hours, she delights in studying the connections of her Orthodox faith and classical education as well as engaging in various handcrafts, such as knitting, sewing, embroidery and bookbinding; and of course, a good dose of opera in the morning brightens her day, too.
